On the 9th of June 2024,  an amazing range of locally-owned electric vehicles came to the High School, along with their owners.  Visitors were invited to quiz owners on their real-life experience of running an EV.

It was great to hear so many opinions, from both sides, and some lively discussions about practicalities. This was an occasion where people who are considering electric for their next car, or those interested in electric bikes, could get the real deal. Free from sales pitches, owners could be open about what they liked about their electric vehicles, what they didn’t, and what they might consider in the future.  Naturally, most of the exhibitors loved their vehicles, and said they would go electric next time too.

Vehicles ranged from brand new to several years old, and from bike to Parish van.

Cars: Hyundai Ioniq, Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe, 4 Teslas, Kia E NIRO, Polestar, BMWi4 e-Drive 40,  Mercedes AQA350 2023, and a brand new Volvo EC40

Vans: the Parish Van: Vauxhall  Vivaro-E 3100 Dynamic,  and VW van ID Buzz

Bikes: Rapido Meteor Ridgeback e-bike, a Specialized light-weight e-bike, and an e-bike adapted from a standard bike by adding a battery and wheel kit.

Local company Starkey Electrical were on hand to answer questions about installing home EV chargers (contact them at info@starkeyelectrical.co.uk )

Thanks to everyone who contributed and attended!
