Travelling by bus is a sustainable option which prevents lots of short car journeys. While our local bus service is somewhat limited in its scheduling, we are lucky to have it and would love more people to use it to allow it to continue.

One of the major things which puts people off using the bus is not knowing when it runs or where it goes to. We answer the most frequently asked questions about the local bus services below.

Where can you get to by bus from Kinver?

You can get to Stourbridge (via Stourton and Wollaston) using the 242 every day apart from Sunday. On Tuesday, Thursdays and Friday, you can also get the 580 to Kidderminster, with stops in Wolverley.

From Stourbridge bus station you can then connect to the train station for onward journeys, or swap onto a bus to Merry Hill and beyond.

The Kidderminster bus stops at the bus station which is near the large Tesco. This is a short walk to retail parks and the town centre (it stops there too) and about 15 minutes from the train station.

What time do the buses run?

On weekdays, the 242 to Stourbridge runs once an hour from 7:10am til 2:10pm. There is then a break before the final two buses at 5:10pm and 6:10pm (the last one to leave the village). Saturday buses run between 9:10am and 3:10pm. The last bus back on weekdays is the 6:40pm from Stourbridge. On Saturday, it is the 4:40pm. See full scheduling for the 242 here.

The Kidderminster bus runs on three days and there are just two buses out of the village and two back. These run around 9am and 1pm. See the 580 service schedule for Kidderminster.

What time is the first bus out of the village?

The 242 leaves White Hill at 7:10am every weekday. This gets you to the bus station in Stourbride for 7:31am. On Saturdays, the first bus leaves at 9:10am, arriving in Stourbridge at 9:35am.

What time is the last bus back to Kinver?

On weekdays you can get a bus back at 6:40pm. On Saturday the same route has its last bus at 4:40pm, with the service ending in Kinver.

Where can you catch the bus in Kinver?

There are a number of stops around the village, starting with the shelter at White Hill, proceeding to the high street and out of the village through Dunsley for the Stourbridge bus. There are bus stop signs to show you active stopping sites along the route. The Kidderminster bus starts by Willow Road (Dark Lane area) then goes through the village to White Hill. It exits Kinver along Kingsford Lane.

Is there a community bus?

Kinver is also lucky to have a volunteer run Community Bus, operating on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays. It connects the village with Enville, Westley Court in Cookley and retirement homes in Prestwood. It can be used by all ages, but is particularly helpful for those who want to make short trips not covered by the standard bus services. See full details of the schedule here.
