Funding and Support
– for Insulating your Home and cutting energy bills
GBIS: the Great British Insulation Scheme
The Great British Insulation Scheme is non means-tested funding aimed at homes with
- EPC of D or worse, and
- Council Tax band of D or lower.
– which applies to a majority of Kinver homes. But the scheme is under-used so far!!
GBIS provides support for one energy-saving measure, normally the most cost-effective eg loft insulation. You can apply via the government website which also has a good phone helpline; or via your own energy company, or via a group called Residential Energy Services who will arrange an assessment and take the process forward. If you can’t find your EPC you can check if there is one and download your home’s EPC here. The contacts given may be able to assess your eligibility anyway. If you qualify for additional help (see below) these contacts should refer you onwards as well.
Other Energy advice and financial support locally

i.e. cardiovascular problems, respiratory issues, limited mobility, weakened immune system or Immunosuppression
They will also advise if you are eligible for other help, eg help for homes which are off-gas, (EC04 scheme) or the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS, above).
Beat the Cold is a charity working in this area, to reduce fuel poverty. Call on 01782914915. They can help by phone or, if necessary, home visits.
